Diple (the “App”) is a Markdown document editing and management tool for iPhone and iPad. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information relating to you.

1. Overview

Diple is designed and handles data as follows:

• Does not require account registration or sign-in;
• Does not use developer-operated cloud servers and does not provide iCloud or other cloud synchronization;
• Does not include advertising, third-party behavioral analytics SDKs, or tracking code;
• Does not use advertising identifiers;
• Does not upload your document content, folder structure, or notes to developer-operated servers;
• Does not sell, rent, or provide your personal information to data brokers.

Your documents, folders, notes, browsing history, version history, and settings are stored on your device. When you choose to use Speech to Text, speech recognition may be handled by an Apple service. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. The Developer does not operate servers that collect your usage data.

2. Information Processed by the App

2.1 Document and Library Information

To provide Markdown editing, browsing, and organizing features, the App may process the following information locally on your device:

• The content of Markdown documents you create or edit;
• Document titles, file names, and creation and modification times;
• Folder names and folder hierarchy;
• Notes you add to documents;
• A record of recently opened and edited documents;
• Document version history and locked historical changes;
• Documents and folders moved to Trash, their deletion time, and whether they came from an encrypted folder.

This information is stored in the local file system within the App sandbox and is not uploaded to developer-operated servers.

2.2 Settings and Preferences

The App stores appearance (light, dark, or system), font style and size, editor display mode, save mode (automatic or manual), document timestamp display, sorting and move-to-top behavior, document deletion behavior, Trash protection, interface language, speech recognition language, and recently used code-block languages locally on your device.

2.3 Speech to Text

Only when you choose to start Speech to Text does the App use the microphone to capture speech and request system speech recognition, inserting the recognized words into your document. Diple does not save speech as an audio recording. Speech is processed on your device when on-device recognition is supported; otherwise, audio may be processed by Apple’s speech recognition service. Recognized words added to a document are stored locally as document content.

2.4 Folder Protection

When you enable password protection:

• Passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain;
• Password hints are stored in the App’s local data;
• We cannot remotely view or recover your passwords.

Do not include identity numbers, contact details, or other sensitive personal information in password hints.

When you use Face ID or Touch ID, authentication is performed by iOS. The App receives only the authentication result, such as success, failure, or cancellation. The App does not access, store, or upload your facial or fingerprint data. Folder protection automatically re-locks when the App enters the background and requires re-authentication to access again. When Trash protection is enabled and Trash contains items from encrypted folders, system biometric authentication is also required before browsing it.

2.5 Membership and Purchase Information

Diple Pro subscriptions, purchases, billing, and purchase restoration are processed by Apple through StoreKit.

The App reads only the product identifier, purchase result, and membership entitlement status required to determine whether Pro features should be unlocked.

We do not have access to your payment card number, payment password, or complete payment credentials. Apple processes this information under the Apple Privacy Policy.

3. System Permissions

The App requests permission to use Face ID only when you choose biometric authentication for an encrypted folder, or when you enable Trash protection and browse protected items in Trash, in order to verify whether you are authorized to access the relevant content.

Biometric information is managed by the iOS Secure Enclave and system authentication services. The App cannot access the underlying facial information.

When you use Speech to Text, the App requests microphone and speech recognition permissions; the feature is unavailable without them. You can review or withdraw these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. The App does not request access to your Photo Library, camera, location, or local network. After withdrawing Face ID permission, you can still access protected folders using password authentication.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your information for advertising, marketing, or data-brokerage purposes.

Information may be transmitted or disclosed only in the following circumstances:

• Apple services: Apple processes purchases, subscriptions, purchase restoration, and App Store services; Apple may also process audio you choose to submit for recognition when on-device speech recognition is unavailable;
• Sharing you initiate: When you use system sharing or export to the Files app, the document file is delivered to the destination app or location you choose;
• Legal requirements: We may comply with applicable laws, legal proceedings, court orders, or lawful requests from authorized public authorities.

The App does not integrate any third-party software development kit (SDK) and does not use third-party analytics or advertising services.

5. Storage and Retention

The App does not provide a developer-operated cloud account or cloud synchronization service. Relevant data is primarily stored in:

• The local file system within the App sandbox;
• The iOS Keychain.

Documents, folders, notes, browsing history, and settings are generally retained until you delete the relevant content or uninstall the App.

Documents and folders moved to Trash are generally retained for approximately one month before being automatically removed. You can also manually empty Trash or restore items earlier at any time. If you set “Delete Documents” to “Delete Immediately,” those documents are permanently deleted at once and do not enter Trash.

Keychain items and Apple purchase records are managed according to iOS and Apple policies. To remove as much local data as possible, delete your documents, empty Trash, and remove folder protection before uninstalling the App.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can manage information processed by the App by:

• Viewing, editing, moving, or deleting documents and folders within the App;
• Emptying Trash or restoring items from it;
• Choosing whether documents move to Trash or are permanently deleted immediately;
• Deleting document notes or browsing history;
• Removing folder protection;
• Withdrawing Face ID permission in iOS Settings;
• Withdrawing microphone or speech recognition permission in iOS Settings;
• Managing or canceling a Diple Pro subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings;
• Contacting us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or other privacy-related assistance.

The App does not provide an account system, so there is no account deletion process. We generally cannot remotely access or delete locally stored information such as documents, version history, and settings.

7. Security

We use measures appropriate to the App’s functionality, including:

• Isolating local files through the iOS application sandbox;
• Storing protection passwords in the iOS Keychain;
• Using iOS system services for biometric authentication;
• Automatically re-locking folder protection when the App enters the background;
• Optionally requiring biometric authentication when Trash contains items from encrypted folders;
• Limiting system permissions to purposes related to App functionality.

No storage method can guarantee absolute security. Folder protection is an in-app access-control measure and is not a substitute for a device passcode, system data protection, or reliable backups. Keep your device passcode and folder-protection password secure.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not specifically designed for children under the age of 14 and does not intentionally request that children provide names, contact details, or identity information.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information to us through the App, contact us at MichaelSilvesterCN+Diple@gmail.com. We will review and address the request in accordance with applicable law.

9. International Data Processing

We do not operate servers that collect Diple user data and therefore do not transfer your locally stored documents or settings across national borders.

When you use services provided by Apple, such as App Store purchases or speech recognition, relevant information may be processed in the locations where Apple’s services operate. Such processing is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to App functionality, applicable law, or platform requirements.

If a change materially affects how information is processed, we will provide notice through an in-app message, release notes, the privacy policy page, or another appropriate method.

The revised policy will include an updated “Last Updated” and “Effective Date.”
